Garden Valley Garden Mulch is an all purpose organic mulch used as an alternative top dress for flower and planting beds, or as a seed cover for new lawns and newly planted gardens. Garden Mulch is rich in valuable microorganisms, and as a 100% natural humus, it's ideal for building healthy root structure in your plants. Garden Mulch consists of aged bark fines, organic humus and peat moss.

Use to break up clay soils or improve water holding capacity in sandy soils. As a soil amendment, Garden Mulch is a multi-purpose compost blend for all your planting needs. Blend equal parts with native soil to create an ideal growing media your plants can thrive in.

As a seed topdress, we recommend that you spread a 1/4 to 1/2 inch layer over newly seeded lawn to insulate and stabilize the seed and retain surface moisture to improve seed germination. We also recommend using Garden Mulch to topdress sewn seed in the rows of your vegetable or flower garden.

When used as a topdress for lawns, aerate the soil with a plug aerator prior to a 1/4 to 1/2 inch application of Garden Mulch over the surface. Back rake the compost down into the lawn and plug holes, then water thoroughly. Topdressing your lawn will improve the soil structure, reduce compaction and provide more oxygen for the grass roots. Consistent care of your soil year after year will reward you with a beautiful and healthy lawn.
