Filthy Rich Top Soil is used as an all purpose outdoor soil for gardens, flower beds, shrubs and lawns. It consists of a balanced blend of organic humus, compost, river loam, sand, barnyard manures and lime for pH balance. Top Soil is ideal for a complete, ready to use top soil blend to plant directly into without mixing. Unlike many other brands, Filthy Rich Top Soil maintains enough actual sand and soil content in the mix to sustain and stabilize most plants and shrubs.

You may also use Top Soil as a soil amendment to improve poor soils or build up planting beds. To improve soil, till or work Top Soil into existing soil half and half to create a more ideal planting media for transplanting container stock, or use as a complete soil in raised bed gardens. To build a raised bed garden using Top Soil simply build a raised framework with wood, stone or brick and fill with Top Soil to a depth of 8 to 12 inches minimum. You're ready to plant! There is no need to add additional materials, but we always recommend, with any mixed product, to have a regular fertilizing program and follow the fertilizer, water and light requirements of each individual plant.

Top Soil may also be used as a topdress for filling in low spots in lawns. If turf is sparse, you may need to overseed and then cover the seed with a thin layer of Top Soil to hold seed in place and retain surface moisture during the germination period.

For new lawns, spread a 1 to 3 inch layer of soil bed, roll firm and spread seed evenly. We recommend that you use either Top Soil or fine garden mulch to cover the seed approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch for better germination results. You may also follow the same procedure before laying down sod. For best results, we recommend that subsoils be tilled with a Rexius compost product prior to the application of the final top soil layer to allow for better soil drainage and deeper rooting.
